Salmon Bagel

Smoked salmon blended with a mild tasting, medium fat soft cheese and topped with a slice of smoked salmon.
At Starbucks, we are proud of our food and take pride in sourcing quality ingredients. For example, the salmon in our bagel is farmed on the west coast of Scotland where the fillets are trimmed by hand before being cured. Our salmon is smoked with oak chips, at a temperature of 22 degrees C, which is a slow, gentle smoking temperature. Also, the bagel itself is made of wheat flour and traditionally malted flour and then shaped into a ring before it is steamed and then baked. Resulting in a dense, chewy, doughy interior with a browned and sometimes crisp exterior.

The bagel stands alone as the only bread that is boiled or steamed before it is baked, providing chewiness instead of brittle crumbs. The yeasty dough is shaped into rings, allowed to rise, then placed in a Prover for a few minutes, then it is baked. Bagels are wholesome and healthy, low in fat and high in energy.
