Changes to Starbucks® Rewards
From 3rd September 2026
Last year, we were delighted to expand the range of items you can redeem with your Stars. Starbucks® Rewards offers benefits beyond free drinks, and we continue to invest in the programme, with more member benefits to come. To help ensure Starbucks® Rewards continues to deliver great value, we’re updating the number of Stars required for certain reward redemptions from 3 September 2026. We’ve outlined everything you need to know below.
WHAT’S CHANGING?
From 03/09/2026, the Stars required to redeem Rewards will change as follows:
Free filter coffee, Americano or hot teas
From 130 Stars to 150 Stars
Free selected bakery items
From 300 Stars to 350 Stars
Free handcrafted beverage of your choice
From 500 Stars to 600 Stars
Free selected merchandise
From 1000 Stars to 1150 Stars
WHAT’S STAYING THE SAME
⊕ You can still earn 10 Stars for every £1 spent.
⊕ 2500 Stars still gets you to Gold Level
⊕ Gold Level still means free extras, and a birthday drink on us.

- Starbucks® Rewards continues to offer members a range of benefits beyond free drinks, including Gold membership benefits, exclusive offers, member experiences and early access to selected launches.
- Since Starbucks® Rewards launched in its current form, members have been earning Stars more quickly as the value of purchases has increased, while the number of Stars needed to redeem Rewards has remained the same. To help ensure Starbucks® Rewards continues to deliver great value for members over the long term, we're updating the number of Stars required to redeem certain Rewards from 3 September 2026.
- We're continuing to invest in Starbucks® Rewards and look forward to introducing more member benefits in the future.
- The new redemption thresholds will apply from 3 September 2026.
- We're letting members know four weeks in advance, giving you the opportunity to redeem your Stars at the current redemption thresholds before the changes take effect.
From 3 September 2026, the number of Stars required to redeem certain Rewards will change as follows:

No other redemption categories are changing.
- Yes. You'll continue to earn 10 Stars for every £1 you spend at participating Starbucks® stores.
- Only the number of Stars required to redeem certain Rewards is changing.
- No. Your existing Star balance won't change because of these updates.
- Your Stars will continue to be managed in line with the Starbucks® Rewards Terms & Conditions, including the existing expiry policy.
- Yes. You can continue redeeming your Stars using the current redemption thresholds until 3 September 2026. After that date, the new thresholds will apply.
- No. There are no changes to:
- the rate at which you earn Stars (10 Stars per £1 spent)
- Gold Member qualification (2500 Stars)
- Gold Member benefits, including birthday rewards and free customisations
- We're continuing to invest in Starbucks® Rewards, including introducing new member benefits in the future.
- Since Starbucks® Rewards launched in its current form, the amount customers spend on each transaction has increased over time, meaning members earn Stars more quickly than when the programme was originally designed.
- Updating the redemption thresholds helps ensure Starbucks® Rewards continues to offer value for members over the long term while keeping the wider programme benefits unchanged.
- We regularly review Starbucks® Rewards to ensure it continues to deliver value for members.
- If we make any future changes to the programme, we'll communicate them clearly with members in advance.
