Controlling Application Functionality
Location Services - In order to use certain Application functionality, such as MOP and location-based services and technology, you must either (a) enable “location services” in the Application; and/or (b) set the permissions in your mobile device to allow communication of this information. More information about adjusting location services on iOS devices may be found here, and additional information on managing an Android device’s location settings may be found here.
If you allow for location sharing, your device communicates with us in ways that allow for us to customise your experience in and around Starbucks stores, to monitor the effectiveness of our marketing efforts, to tailor messages based on your time and location patterns, and to limit the number of times you see a promotional message or offer.
Voice Ordering - In order to use certain Application functionality such as Voice Ordering, when available, you must (a) enable “microphone” and “speech recognition” in the Application; and/or (b) set the permissions in your mobile device to allow communication of this information.
If you use such Application functionality, including location services and voice ordering, you are transmitting User Information to Starbucks and/or its agents, and authorize Starbucks and/or its agents, to record, process, and store such User Information as necessary for the Application functionality and for purposes described in the Starbucks Privacy Statement. Please see the rest of this Privacy Statement for more information about how we may use and store personal information, and how to control the use of your personal information.
eGifts - If you choose to use Application functionality that allows you to send messages or eGifts to third parties, you must first obtain their permission to provide their personal information, such as their name, phone number or email address, to Starbucks. The referred information will be used by Starbucks for the purpose of contacting the third party, on your behalf, to carry out the requested functionality, for example, by emailing an eGift. Although you may enter the recipient’s contact information into the Application, you also have the option to provide the recipient’s contact information by granting Starbucks permission to access your device’s contacts.
User Responsibility
You are solely responsible for maintenance of the confidentiality and security of any User Information which you transmit from or store on a Device for purposes of the Application, including Mobile Payment, MOP and Voice Ordering, and for all transactions and other activities undertaken with any Starbucks Card registered in the your name, whether authorised or unauthorised. Cookie Notice
Effective Date: 21st June, 2021
Like most companies, Starbucks engages certain providers to use cookies, web beacons and similar tracking technologies (collectively, “cookies”) on our owned or operated websites and mobile applications (“Sites”).
The purpose of this Cookie Notice is to provide clear and comprehensive information for visitors to our Sites (“you”) about the cookies we may use, the purposes for using them, and the control that you have over how cookies are used.
For more information about our general approach to data and privacy, or to contact us with questions, please see the privacy policy listed on the Starbucks-affiliated website you visited or see the Starbucks Privacy Statement.
Contents
You may skip to the specific sections of our Cookie Notice by selecting any of the sections listed below.
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your computer or mobile device when you visit a website, mobile application or click links within certain marketing emails. On subsequent visits to that website or mobile application, the cookies are recognized by the site owner or the individual parties setting the cookies. Cookies are important to the proper functioning of our Sites and are used to distinguish you from other visitors to the Sites in order to remember your preferences, create a personalized user experience, understand site usage patterns, or for marketing purposes. Other tracking technologies include web beacons, Java Scripts, entity tags, and HTML5 local storage.
Cookies – Cookies are small data files that are sent from a website’s server and are stored on your device’s hard drive either for only the duration of your visit or for a fixed period. Cookies contain information that can later be read by a web server.
Web Beacons – Web beacons are small, transparent images that are embedded in web pages, applications, and emails that are sometimes called “clear gifs," “single pixel gifs", "page tags" or “web bugs." We use web beacons to track the web pages you visit, to test the effectiveness of our marketing, and to find out if an email has been opened and acted on.
JavaScript – JavaScript are code snippets embedded in various parts of websites and applications that facilitate a variety of operations including accelerating the refresh speed of certain functionality or monitoring usage of various online components.
Entity Tags -- Entity Tags are HTTP code mechanisms that allow portions of websites to be stored or “cached" within your browser and validates these caches when the website is opened, accelerating website performance since the web server does not need to send a full response if the content has not changed.
HTML5 Local Storage – HTML5 local storage allows data from websites to be stored or “cached" within your browser to store and retrieve data in HTML5 pages when the website is revisited.
No, you do not have to allow cookies unless they are required (or “strictly necessary”) for the Sites to operate, as described below. However, if you do disable cookies, please be aware that the Site may not load as it is intended and your browsing experience may be less tailored.
Yes, there is certain terminology that is helpful for you to understand in order to make informed decisions about cookie usage. This includes first- and third-party cookies and session and persistent cookies.
First- and third-party cookies: Whether a cookie is “first” or “third” party refers to the domain setting the cookie. This means that a first-party cookie is a cookie set by the operator of the website or application being accessed by the user in the United Kingdom. Third-party cookies are cookies set by a domain other than the website or application you are visiting, such as by an analytics provider present on the website. When you use our Sites, we may allow third parties to collect device and usage information and location information across your different devices through mobile software development kits. Third-party-cookies may include the different types of cookies described below.
Session and persistent cookies: Session cookies are temporary cookies that allow a website operator to understand actions taken on a website while a browser session is open. These cookies are deleted once the browser is closed. Persistent cookies, in contrast, remain on a visitor’s browser or hard drive for the duration of time specified as that cookie’s expiration date.
What Are the Types of Cookies We Use?
The below charts list the cookies used by the Sites owned or operated by the Starbucks brand. Our individual Sites will each use a selection (but likely not all) of these cookies as appropriate.

The Starbucks Card is issued to you by Starbucks. It allows you to load a monetary value on to your Starbucks Card for future purchases at participating Starbucks stores. The Starbucks Card is to be treated like cash. It cannot be replaced if lost, stolen or destroyed unless you have registered it and reported the loss as described below. The monetary value that you load onto your Starbucks Card is a pre-payment only for the goods and services of participating Starbucks stores. No credit card, credit line, overdraft protection or deposit account is associated with a Starbucks Card. No interest, dividends or any other earnings on funds loaded on to a Starbucks Card will accrue or be paid or credited to you by Starbucks. The value associated with the Starbucks Card is not insured or guaranteed by any person or entity.
*UK and Republic of Ireland members will be able to earn Stars (at the rate in their country of residency) in participating Starbucks stores in the UK & Republic of Ireland. Unfortunately, not all stores have the ability to honour Rewards at this time. Please use the Store Locator using the ‘Redeems Rewards’ filter to find a location(s) nearest to you that can redeem Starbucks Rewards.
Loading Value on Your Card.
In the UK, you can load value onto a Starbucks Card by using a credit card, debit card or cash by visiting any participating store. You may also top up an existing Starbucks Card by using a credit or debit card (VISA, MasterCard or American Express) online at www.starbucks.co.uk/account/cards. If you choose to top up your Starbucks Card online, any personal data which you provide to us in order to do so will be held pursuant to Starbucks Privacy Policy on secure servers in the USA and by proceeding with the topping up facility, you will be agreeing to this arrangement.
The value of your Starbucks Card is subject to the following load limits; the maximum amount that can be loaded onto your Starbucks Card in any transaction is £150, a maximum value of £150 may be stored on your Starbucks Card at any time and a minimum value that can be loaded is £2. A minimum value of £5 must be loaded onto your Starbucks Card in order to register your Starbucks Card online. Starbucks may change these maximum and minimum amounts at any time by notifying you at the point of sale or on the Starbucks web site and such change shall not constitute an amendment to this agreement. In accordance with Anti-Money Laundering Regulations, the maximum amount which can be loaded onto your Starbucks Card in any consecutive 30 days period is £200 (this amount being subject to change due to currency fluctuations). The maximum amount that may be loaded onto a Starbucks Card in the UK over the life of the Card is £9,000 at which time the Card will be replaced with a new Card.
Amounts loaded, and subsequently topped up, onto a Starbucks Card are held and denominated in the currency of the country in which it was initially issued regardless of the currency used to load the Card. When adding value to your Starbucks Card or using it to make a purchase outside of the country in which it was issued, foreign currency conversion calculations are based on exchange rates published daily by Bloomberg. No fees or other charges are assessed to your Starbucks Card for the conversion. When using your Starbucks Card outside of the country in which it was issued, the balance shown on your receipt at the point of sale will be in the domestic currency of the store location you are visiting.
Auto Top-Up.
To make reloading your Starbucks Card easier, you can use our auto top-up (Reload) feature. By linking a credit card or debit card to your Starbucks Card, you can reload a nominated value onto your Starbucks Card whenever you like. To set up Auto Top-up you will need to register your Starbucks Card online and log in online at www.starbucks.co.uk. Set up the minimum Starbucks Card balance value at which you want your Starbucks Card value to auto top-up. Provide us with payment information and the auto top-up value. Your credit card or debit card will be billed according to the schedule and amount you have selected. Your selected value may take 24 hours to be processed onto your Starbucks Card. We will send you an email after each auto top-up purchase to let you know your Starbucks Card has been loaded. You can change your preferences at any time by logging into your online account, but changes may take up to 24 hours to go into effect.
To discontinue your Automatic Reload feature, you must log in at www.starbucks.co.uk or via the Starbucks® UK app.
Fees and Expiry Date.
Starbucks does not charge any fees for the issuance, activation, use or topping up of your Starbucks Card and your Starbucks Card has no expiry date.

These Terms and Conditions do not alter in any way the terms or conditions of any other agreement you may have with Starbucks for products, services or otherwise. Starbucks reserves the right to change, modify and/or eliminate Starbucks Rewards and/or these Terms and Conditions or any policy, FAQ, or guideline pertaining to Starbucks Rewards at any time and in its sole discretion. Any changes or modifications will be effective upon posting the revisions to www.starbucks.co.uk. Your continued participation in Starbucks Rewards will confirm your acceptance of such changes or modifications; therefore, you should review these Terms and Conditions and applicable policies frequently to understand the terms and conditions that apply to Starbucks® Rewards. If you do not agree to the amended terms, you must stop participating in Starbucks® Rewards.
This programme is not targeted towards, nor intended for use by, anyone under the age of 18. Please read the Privacy Policy carefully to understand how Starbucks collects, uses and discloses information about its customers.
ABOUT STARBUCKS® REWARDS
Starbucks® Rewards is one way in which Starbucks endeavours to reward and thank loyal customers for patronising our business and purchasing Starbucks products. Starbucks® Rewards members are able to earn and accumulate "Stars" that can be redeemed for Starbucks Rewards benefits ("Rewards") at participating Starbucks stores. Unfortunately, not all Starbucks stores have the ability to award Stars or redeem Stars for Rewards at this time. To find the location nearest you that participates in Starbucks® Rewards, visit the Starbucks Store Locator at https://starbucks.co.uk/find-store.
JOINING STARBUCKS® REWARDS
To join Starbucks® Rewards go to www.starbucks.co.uk or to the Starbucks® UK mobile app (for Android™ or iPhone® device) (“App”) and follow the prompts to create an account. You will be required to provide the following information:
1. First and last name, email address, password, country of residence and marketing preferences.
2. Birthday (month, day) is optional to receive birthday offers. If you do not provide birthday information you will not receive your Birthday Reward when you reach Gold Level.
When you join Starbucks® Rewards, you are automatically provided with a digital membership barcode and can request a Starbucks Card with a zero GBP (£0.00) balance. You can add funds to your digital Starbucks Card either online at www.starbucks.co.uk/account, through the App, or in-person at a participating Starbucks store. You can also register a physical Starbucks Card to your account by adding the 16-digit Starbucks Card number and security code. Starbucks Cards may include physical Starbucks plastic cards that are available for sale from participating Starbucks stores and other retail locations (e.g. Supermarkets). Multiple Starbucks Cards can be added for use in your Starbucks UK app to collect Starbucks® Rewards, but you may have only one (1) account that is personal to you.
All Starbucks Cards, including the one that is digitally provisioned, are subject to the Starbucks Card Terms & Conditions which are incorporated into these Terms of Use. For more information about Starbucks Cards, please visit www.starbucks.co.uk/card
Personal information which you provide to us for purposes of creating an account and registering your Starbucks Card will be held pursuant to Starbucks Privacy Policy and may be processed by Starbucks in the United States of America. Information on Starbucks data protection practices and Starbucks Privacy Policy is available on this Website.
EARNING STARS
The Rewards that are available to you through Starbucks® Rewards are based on the number of Stars that you earn. You can earn Stars by making purchases at participating Starbucks stores in the UK and the Republic of Ireland using a registered physical Starbucks Card or the Starbucks® UK app only.
• Paying for your purchase with a Starbucks Card. When you pay with your digital Starbucks Card in the App, you will earn 10 (ten) Stars for every £1 GBP you spend at participating stores. You will also earn 10 Stars for every £1 GBP spent when you a) pay in-person at a participating store with your registered physical Starbucks Card or b) scan the barcode in the App, and then use any physical Starbucks Card (regardless of whether it is registered) to complete the purchase.
• Paying for your purchase with another Payment Method. You can link a credit card, debit card or mobile wallet to your account, and use it to pay directly for your order through the Starbucks® UK App. When you pay directly with a linked payment method, you will earn 10 (ten) Stars for every £1 GBP you spend at participating stores. Starbucks may add or remove available payment methods at any time in its sole discretion.
• Scan or swipe your Starbucks Card or App (or digital membership barcode) at the till and then pay with cash, credit card, debit card or mobile wallet. You can earn 10 (ten) Stars for every £1 GBP you spend at participating Starbucks stores.
•When calculating your Stars, we will round up to the highest 10p as per the following:
£0.01 - £0.10 = 1 Star
£0.11 - £0.20 = 2 Stars
£0.21 - £0.30 = 3 Stars
£0.31 - £0.40 = 4 Stars
£0.41 - £0.50 = 5 Stars
£0.51 - £0.60 = 6 Stars
£0.61 - £0.70 = 7 Stars
£0.71 - £0.80 = 8 Stars
£0.81 - £0.90 = 9 Stars
£0.91 - £1.00 = 10 Stars
• Promotional Bonus Star Offers. From time to time, we, or others acting with our permission, may offer you opportunities to earn additional "Bonus Stars" through special promotions. These promotional Bonus Stars will be awarded as described in the applicable promotional offer and will be subject to any additional terms set forth in such promotional offer.
Note: Stars will be calculated and awarded to two decimal places (“Stardust”) to ensure that the full value of your transaction is recognised and credited to your Starbucks® Rewards account.
• There is currently no upper limit on the number of Stars that you can accrue. However, Starbucks reserves the right in its absolute discretion to impose a cap on Star accrual should it deem it necessary.
• You can view your full and current Star balance to two decimal places by logging into your Starbucks account here. However, when viewed in your Starbucks® UK app, your current Star balance will appear rounded-down to the nearest whole number on the home screen. The full balance, to two decimal places, will be tracked and accounted for on your Rewards screen in the Starbucks UK® app or on your online account.
STAR EXPIRATION
Unless otherwise noted, Stars are automatically added to your account within twenty-four (24) hours of your eligible purchase and each Star has an individual expiration date of two (2) years from the date awarded to your Starbucks account. If a Star is not exchanged for a designated programme benefit within two (2) years of its award, the Star will automatically expire and will be deducted from your account on the date of expiration. Where you redeem a Star(s) as part of a programme benefit, Starbucks will automatically redeem and deduct such Star(s) from your Starbucks account by using the Star(s) with the shortest period left until expiration first. Starbucks reserves the right at any time to adjust your Star balance where it has reason to suspect fraudulent activity.
CURRENCY EXCHANGE
If the address associated with your account is located in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland, any qualifying purchase you make using a Starbucks Card registered to your account at participating Starbucks stores in the UK or the Republic of Ireland will earn Stars as if the currency were expressed in GBP. No currency exchange is applied to the value of your purchase for the purpose of determining how many Stars you have earned.
EXCLUSIONS TO EARNING & REDEEMING STARS; PARTICIPATING STORES ONLY
Members registered in the UK and Republic of Ireland will only be able to redeem Stars in participating stores in the UK or Republic of Ireland. You cannot earn Stars on purchases of or on Starbucks Cards (such as activations, reloads, transfers, and other card-to-card transactions). Unfortunately, not all stores have the ability to honour Rewards or Star Redemption at this time. Please use the Store Locator using the ‘accepts Starbucks Card’ filter to find a location(s) nearest to you that can redeem Starbucks Rewards.
STARBUCKS® REWARDS PROGRAMME
There are two levels of benefits in Starbucks® Rewards depending on the number of Stars that you accumulate in your account. By creating an account or by activating and registering a Starbucks Card, you will be automatically enrolled in Starbucks Rewards at Green Level. Earn two thousand five hundred (2500) Stars within a twelve-month period following your enrolment date and you will proceed to Gold Level.
To maintain Gold Level benefits, you must earn two thousand five hundred (2500) new Stars during each twelve-month period following the date you reached Gold Level.

You will continue to accrue Stars with each purchase (ten (10) Stars for each £1 spent) until you choose to exchange your Stars for a Free Item Reward.
You must present your registered Starbucks Card, digital card or scan your digital membership barcode in the App at the till point with the barista at a participating UK Starbucks store in order to redeem your Free Item Reward. You can view and track your Stars on www.starbucks.co.uk/account or in the ‘Account’ section on the Starbucks UK mobile app.
Stars may be redeemed for Free Item Rewards at participating UK Starbucks stores, with such Stars being deducted from your Starbucks account at the point of redemption. Starbucks Rewards offers different Free Item Rewards based on different Star redemption tiers. Note that the Free Item Rewards available and Star redemption tiers may vary by location and by country, and that we may adjust the items included in each tier at any time in our sole discretion. To see the available Free Item Rewards in your location, please check our App [https://www.starbucks.co.uk/app].
